Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is “A Message from Santa’s Workshop”?

This beautifully scripted mini-movie features Santa Claus speaking directly to your child… by name! First, your child will experience what it is like to actually visit the North Pole. They’ll be greeted by animated bunnies, bears and other woodland animals whose antics lead them through the snow right to the front door of Santa’s rustic Workshop. Once inside, a real live Santa takes a break from all the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle, to warmly welcome you to his workshop. There is always plenty of time for his favorite children, especially yours, and he turns directly to the camera to say, “…of course this message is for you, Emily…” With his warm smile and a twinkle in his eye, Santa speaks personally to your child, by name, over and over.

Q: How do I know if you have my child's name?

Simply search for the name at the top of this site. Remember, if you search for "Jake" and see no results, try searching for "Jacob." We often have the full version of the child's name.

Q: My child's name is not showing up when I search. Why?

You may have a unique spelling for a name that phonetically sounds the same as a name we have in our library. We recommend searching for alternative or more common spellings. The use of a wildcard character (“*”, an asterisk) is also permitted, but will work only with three or more letters preceding it. Searching for "Chr*" will return Christina, Christine, Christopher, etc.

Q: How do I get the video message I will be showing to my son/daughter/grandchild?

Upon purchasing one of our videos, you will be instructed as to how to download the video you just purchased. You will also receive an e-mail receipt that will provide a link to the Downloads page just in case you have problems downloading the first time. You simply download the video (QuickTime MOV) and view it at any time you wish.

Q: How can I be sure my child’s name is pronounced correctly?

While we tried to provide phonetic and pronunciation spellings for each name, we realized how many of us may struggle with such (did we enjoy English class?). Therefore, we recorded and offer a free audio sample of Santa saying the child’s name. You can listen to this free audio sample by clicking on the Audio button under your child’s name and following your browser’s/computer’s instructions. Please make sure your speaker’s volume is not turned off or too low.

Q: What programs will I need to play the video?

You will need the Apple QuickTime player (http://www.quicktime.com).

Q: When I try to download the video, it starts playing automatically. Why?

Based upon your computer’s current settings, the video is "streaming" live from Yoorit. If you want to save the file, for viewing later, we recommend waiting until the video has completed streaming and then return to the download page (either hit the "Back" button in your browser or follow the link in your e-mail receipt) and re-download the video by the following:
Using your mouse, right-click on the download button for the format of your choice, and select "Save As" or "Save Target As." You will then see a dialog box pop up allowing you to choose a location on your computer to which to save the video.

Q: What video formats are available?

Currently we offer only one format, Apple’s QuickTime (.mov). This format can be easily converted to be viewed on portable devices (iPod, Zune, PSP, etc) by following the respective manufacturer’s instructions.

Q: How many names do you have?

While we don’t like to disclose an exact number, we suspect our library includes the first names of more than seventy percent of children born in the United States between 1999 and 2004.

Q: What kind of quality can I expect?

The production level is very high quality. We encoded each video with a variable bit rate that yielded in excess of 1,300 kbps, displaying at 640x480 resolution and AAC stereo audio. This provides you a very high quality video while still providing relatively small and compact video files for easy download.

Q: Is there any limitation on how many times I can play the video?

No, absolutely not. We have elected to provide you with DRM-free videos. You will be able to enjoy watching the video as many times as you like.

Q: Are there any advertisements or “paid for” content in the video?

No, absolutely not. We have taken a calculated risk to provide you with a professionally produced, family friendly, wholesome mini-movie to simply bring smiles, joy and warmth to children and families this Christmas season. With your support we will be producing many more videos with varying themes.

Q: Do you provide Santa emails or letters?

No, unfortunately at this time we do not.

Q: Can I get the video on DVD?

Not at this time. If you email us a request, we will let you know whether or not we have found an affiliate to fulfill such requests. Please bear in mind that there may be a premium placed on any potential DVD offering due to processing, packaging, and handling costs.

Q: Do you sell my personal data?

No, absolutely not. We are in the video production and ecommerce business and do not generate incremental revenue by selling or leasing your personal data. In addition, we do not store your credit card data on our servers at all. We do store your name, address and email information for customer service and general business purposes. While many companies want you to become a Registered User in order to shop on their site, you will notice we have no such feature…by design.
